What type of Linux distributions are mainly used for processing servers inside bigger institutions or imaging facilities?

Hi all,

this is a question to the community. As presented on the NEUBIAS 2020 ZEN will soon allow to use your own code via APEER modules (which are Docker Containers) inside our ZEN platform.

For the future we plan to allow those Docker execution from within ZEN also if the actual Docker is running on a remote server (linux and/or windows).

Question: What type of Linux distributions are mainly used for processing servers inside bigger institutions or imaging facilities?

Thx for your answers.

All the HPCs I’ve used have been running something based on CentOS. Workstations tend to lean more towards Ubuntu or Debian.

FWIW, our cluster is Ubuntu 16.04

Ubuntu 18.04 and soon to upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04

Server Ubuntu 18.04, with a coming upgrade to 20.04.

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU): Clusters are all Centos 7.5 and most workstations and individual servers Ubuntu 16.04 (being phased out), 18.04, or soon 20.04.
