Testing data provided?

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for medical/biological image data for my master thesis. I came across OME and was wondering wether OME also provided any testing data, i.e. an instance of image data, or “only” the software.

Thanks in advance!
Yours,
Tobias

Hi @Arythain. Welcome to image.sc!

To some extent, it depends on what you’d like to do, but have you seen https://idr.openmicroscopy.org/, which runs on OMERO? There are over 11M images to choose from. :slightly_smiling_face:

See https://doi.org/10.1038/nmeth.4326 for background. And feel free to ask any questions under https://forum.image.sc/tag/idr

All the best,
~Josh

Hi @joshmoore,

thanks for your quick reply. I had a look at the links you provided. Mostly I am looking for image data from radiology reports, i.e. dicom-files containing some kind of CT scan. Preferably a rather large number of them from different patients. As far as I could see, unfortunately, there were none under the link you gave me.

Best wishes
Arythain

Hi Arythain,

Ah, understood. Though the IDR has a number of pathology, histology, and OCT images and can cross link to SNOMED, we haven’t received any radiology submissions to date. Obviously, we’d be happy to take them!

This is likely due to the existence of more dedicated resources. For example, alongside the IDR, Nature recommends a number of medical image repositories, e.g.TCIA Collections - The Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA) or https://www.smir.ch/.

Additionally, the Imaging Data Commons was recently announcened and lists a few resources that may work for you. @federov may be able to help you more.

All the best and good luck with your thesis.

Hi Josh,

thanks again for your kind and extensive answer! I already took a look at the Cancer Imaging Archive and was now looking for something to compare to. I’ll have a look at your 2nd suggestion and the Imaging Data Commons.

Thanks again!
