Staff Scientist, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
The High Throughput Bioscience (HTB) Center at St. Jude under Director and St. Jude Faculty Member Dr. Taosheng Chen, seeks an experienced cell biologist/cell-imaging expert with a strong interest in image analysis to implement imaging-based high content screening. The ideal candidate will be able to establish new assay models, acquire and analyze images, and interact with internal and external groups in developing algorithm for analyzing complex images from 384-well assay plates. The Staff Scientist reports to the Director of HTB Center, and is expected to independently lead and implement collaborative projects; present or publish research results; and assist the Center Director in managing the daily operation of the Center. The HTB Center consists of those with advanced training in biology, chemistry, and engineering who work together on target identification and validation, assay development, laboratory automation, high-throughput and high-content screening (up to 800K small molecules and genome-scale siRNAs), large-scale data processing, and management of scientific collaborations.
The successful candidate will have expertise in cell imaging (including live cells) and complex image analysis (by utilizing commercial and open source algorithm). Expertise in establishing 3D culture (e.g., organoids/spheroids) and in developing or optimizing image analysis algorithm are a plus.
Salary is highly competitive (comparable to industry) and employee benefits are outstanding. Relocation assistance is available. Working at St. Jude provides the opportunity to make a tangible difference to pediatric cancer patient care and survival and St. Jude has been consistently ranked in Fortune magazine’s “100 Best Places to Work” list and is exceptionally positively reviewed on GlassDoor.
A Ph.D. in an appropriate scientific field is required.
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant and productive (combined) years postdoctoral research associate or five (5) years of combined academic experience at the postdoctoral level or above.
