Hello Everyone,

So I have this white speck on my image (on my grayscale). I’m normalizing my values by dividing it by the maximum (aka the white speck) thus my results are all skewed up.

How can I GET RID of this white speck? I want it gone!!

Thanks!

Hi tbrri,

You could try detecting the speck, masking it out of the image, and then determining the max image value; this detection/masking could be applied to all images in turn as a defensive measure. However, if a single feature is skewing your results so severely, you may want to consider normalizing by a different, more robust measure rather than trying to remove the feature. Even if you were to detect the speck itself, the region around the speck may still have an abnormally high value than can throw off the maximum.
