I finally discovered that Icy supports jython scripting

Could it be shipped directly with Icy ?
It was not really obvious that one can install this functionality via the plugin search.

Glad that was an useful information for you 
We are always a bit reluctant to make the default package bigger but Python is definitely much more used than Javascript so it makes sense to include Jython plugin by default i guess
We will change that in the next version.
