"send region to Image J" TIFF size limit

Hi Pete,
I’m wanting to take large regions from several scanned images (preferably the whole section) and export it to image J as TIFFs in order to register the images. I’m happy to downgrade the image by a factor of 4 or 5, but any more and it begins to lose details.

There is a size limit to the export. I’ve seen on previous GitHub posts that this was arbitrary and you had written a script to bypass it. However, i can’t seem to get this to work in QuPath M4.

Is there any way I can bypass this export size limit on TIFF images?

BW,

Alistair

There remains a fundamental limit to approx 2^31 pixels in the image. How much you actually get may depend on whether you have an 8-bit RGB image or a multiplexed image.

Trying to export anything bigger than this is doomed to fail, unless you use File → Export region… → OME TIFF to write a pyramidal TIFF.

I’m not sure how much you need to export exactly so I don’t know if this is really the problem… but hopefully it helps a bit.
