Dear Dr. Eliceiri,

I am submitting ReadPlate3.0, the latest version of a plugin of my
authorship, useful for reading absorbance values from a photograph of a
multi-well plate.
Since 2015, previous versions of this macro have been listed in the
ImageJ site.

I am asking you if it would be possible to upload this software in the
Fiji site. Along these years, many users referred to us upon the
visibility of this site.

Please find below the text of the message sent yesterday to Wayne
Rasband in regard to this matter.

Thanking you in advance for your kind attention,

Sincerely yours,

Jose Maria Delfino, PhD

Dear Wayne,

We sincerely hope that you are doing well in this time of pandemia!

We are submitting ReadPlate3.0 to be listed as a plugin (in the Analysis
folder). This represents a substantial upgrade over the previous version
(2.1, February 2018) and includes improvements based upon the experience
and requests of many users.

ReadPlate3.0 version incorporates the capability of reading multi-well
plates of 6 (3x2), 12 (4x3), 24 (6x4), 48 (8x6) or 96 (12x8) wells. A
new user-friendly interface facilitates image analysis. This version
allows new user-defined features to optimize blank correction. Multiple
readings of the same plate have also considerably been facilitated,
appending the full parameter file to the results and log file.

We are including herewith a zipped folder containing an index.html file,
the macro (ReadPlate3.0.txt file) and a sample image (plate.jpg file).

We kindly request you to upload this latest version to the Macro and
Plugin sections of the ImageJ site.

Hoping to hear from you soon, we thank you very much in advance for your
kind attention.

With our best regards,

Jose Maria

Hi @jmdelfino,
I think reformating the message rather than copy pasting would have been a bit clearer.
So I assume you are asking about how to distribute plugins via an update site and have the update site listed in the Fiji updater, which is the standard way to share ImageJ/Fiji plugins nowadays

These are the steps:

PS : there is a dedicated field for keywords when you post a message on the forum, no need to put them in your message post

Thank you LThomas!
I will do as you indicated.
It is obvious that I have never done this before.
Thanks again for your help, and my apologies for any inconvenience,
José María Delfino

Alright almost there !
Just why did you upload both a ijm and a txt file ? They have both the same content right ?
Anyway it’s apparently not a problem so never mind.

For the last step with GitHub, starting explaining GitHub would be rather time consuming
You can check the documentations and video tutorial if you are interested. Especially if you are still programming you can really benefit from this versioning system and it’s free.

For now I can offer to make this pull request for you, I just need the name of the update site “Read Plate” I guess.
Then 2 to 3 short descriptive sentences for the description field, and the name of the person in charge (I guess you so José María Delfino).
You can see example there

Dear Laurent Thomas,

First of all, thank you for your prompt and kind answers to my requests!
I respond to your queries below.

The update site is now listed in the updater and available for everyone

Dear Laurent Thomas,
I really appreciate your kind and diligent help.
Thank you so much!
With my best regards,
José María
