We are looking for a biologist with experience in imaging and image analysis to help establish a phenotypic platform that will ultimately be used to screen small molecule libraries for new male contraceptives. The post is funded by a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grand Challenges Exploration Award.
The aim is to establish assays that can measure motility and acrosome reaction in human sperm preparations. - the initial funding is for 1 year but if successful in establishing the platform we fully intend to apply for follow-on funding for a further 2 years. Experience in sperm biology is not essential - we would like to hear from cell biologists experienced in cell tracking.
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary team in the £8M state-of-the-art National Phenotypic Screening Centre (NPSC) at the School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee, and will be working closely with a leading andrology lab led by Professor Chris Barratt, also based the University of Dundee.
