Post-doctoral position: Janssen

In the PREDECT consortium, we aim to establish and characterize novel humanized 3D in vitro as well as in vivo model systems for prostate, lung and breast cancer that better represent the full complexity and heterogeneity of the human disease. Janssen will employ an informatics specialist for the PREDECT consortium. The aim of this project within the consortium is to develop image analysis tools, for segmentation and feature extraction in a 3D setting, and apply existing statistical analyses and machine learning algorithms to mine these data extracted from images to classify complex phenotypes and investigate correlation with genotype and experimental conditions. This individual would fit within the framework of work package 4 (WP4), as the developed tools will be widely applicable for data generated within the other work packages of the consortium.
Applicants should hold a degree in computer science, specializing in the field of computer vision. Candidates that will be considered will have extensive experience with commonly used programming languages for image processing (e.g. MATLAB, Java, C++, python etc.) and have a firm understanding in machine learning fundamentals. Additional requirements that would be of added value: strong background in statistical analysis, programming in R, capable of building user friendly tools, experience with parallel computing and basic understanding of cellular biology.
