OK to not install MySQL on Linux?

Hi all,

Regarding CP 3.X installation on our HPC (RHEL), our institution’s HPC engineers say that “This version of CellProfiler requires MySQL to be installed which we cannot install on HPC servers hence we are unable to proceed with this installation.”

We have not used MySQL and just export to CSVs so functionality-wise, I accept this handicap, but can I tell them with confidence that they can just remove the “mysqlclient” from the requirements.txt and CP 3.X will install ok?
@agoodman @bcimini ?
Thanks!
Dave

Well, on my advice, the HPC engineers forged on removing the mysqlclient. I haven’t seen the executable yet, but I’d be happy to hear anyone else’s experience or advice. For now, this is not a priority issue.
