The Center for Proteomic Chemistry (CPC) within the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is seeking a motivated student for a 12 month internship starting as soon as possible, located in Basel, Switzerland.
The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with computational and biological domain experts and work on the image data analysis of large scale data. He will receive initial training focusing on the internal IT infrastructure and derived image analysis pipelines. The intern will have a central role in assisting the assessment of the outcome of kinetic imaging measurement and analysis thereof. Additionally the candidate will develop novel image analysis routines suited for a variety of questions addressed by imaging techniques.
Candidates to be considered for the position should have completed at least three years of undergraduate studies in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biology or related disciplines studies. They should have the ability to quickly master new skills, methods and tools and the ability to work with minimal supervision once computational tasks has been defined. Further, excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in English and good organization skills are required. Most importantly, motivation, willingness to work as part of a team and dedication to generating cutting-edge, clinically relevant high quality data is a must.
Preferred additional qualification:
-CellProfiler and image analysis pipeline development
-analysis of kinetic images;
-Linux scripting and programming in Bash, Python and experience with Linux clusters and Sun Grid Engine
Master student in advanced or finished stage, completed BSc/BA, currently enrolled at a university/FH
