ImageJ freezes during import of image sequence

ImageJ freezes after I click Import->Image Sequence. Started happening after multiple days of no problems. Suggestions?

ImageJ v 1.5
Windows 10
JPEG

Attached is a screenshot for your perusal.

Dear,

the command “Import > Image Sequence” expects a folder (directory) with images of the same type and size. ImageJ then opens all images in the folder as a stack.

You didn’t tell us the details of your ImageJ-installation. Click on the ImageJ bar below the icons and the details will be displayed: Exact ImageJ version, Java version, Memory allocation.

As you can see by the attachment,

the images are present and are all of the same type.

Dear,

are there only 4 images in the folder?

What is the size of the images?

Can you open one of the images in ImageJ without problems?

Why do you want to open these images as a stack?

Herbie

There is a known bug with the Windows 10 Creators Update that causes ImageJ to freeze when opening images. You can workaround this bug by enabling the “Use JFileChooser to open/save” option in the Edit>Options>Input/output dialog. You could also try enabling (or disabling) the “Use file chooser to import sequences” option.

Thanks Wayne!

Interesting bug …

Wayne, enabling “Use JFileChooser to open/save” did it. Thank you!

Besides the obvious clicking on things, can you tell me what all of this meant?
Thanks,
Ana
