Image analysis specialist / Data engineer / Software developer
The Institute for Research in Biomedicine, IRB, located in Bellinzona (Switzerland) and affiliated to the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), is looking for a junior image analysis specialist, data engineer, or software developer with a strong interest in biological applications. The employee will be integrated into an interdisciplinary research project between the labs of Santiago F. Gonzalez (IRB, Bellinzona) and Rolf Krause (USI, Lugano), which aims at creating a database of in vivo imaging data, along with software solutions, to sustain immunological research.
The ideal candidate should be service-minded, proactive, and a good team player. These qualities are essential in interdisciplinary research, which combines informatics with biology.
As a background, an ideal candidate should have experience in bioimaging and a MSc in Informatics or Biology or a related field.
The main responsibilities will be:
Collection of microscopy data from a consortia of internationally renouned project partners;
Development of software and pipelines to facilitate the analysis of microscopy data. This include improving the user experience (UX), understanding of user requirements, programming (ideally using web technologies);
Analysis of microscopy data with the imaging software / or other bioimage analysis software;
Organization and management of data.
The employee will mainly work at the Institute for Research for Biomedicine, located in Bellinzona. However, considering the current circumstances an initial period - mainly of training - will be done remotelly.
