Ilastik tracking: Transition Neighbourhood definition

The ilastik tracking workflow has a parameter named Transition Neighbourhood

Based on this …

Transition neighborhood: How far can an object move

… I assumed that this is the maximum distance an object can move (based on the object center coordinate?, does it take scaled units into account if data is isotropic?) in a single frame while still being assigned to the same track.

However, the tooltip parameter has an explanation that mentions number of possible objects that are considered which doesn’t seem to be related to spatial distances:

Which of the two is the correct explanation ?

As I noticed some big jumps in my track despite putting a small value for the parameter I assume it is the latter, although I don’t quite understand what it would be useful for.

Hi @VolkerH,

sorry for the delayed answer. And thank you for bringing this up! The documentation is incorrect there, what you see as the tooltip is the correct interpretation of the value. I’ve updated the docs accordingly (see PR).

Cheers
