Help installing NDPITools in Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS

So, I have some images in NDPI format that cannot be easily opened
For this I tried to install the NDPITools plugin
(NDPITools)
Following the instructions in:
(NDPITools Plugin Bundle for ImageJ)

I copy the file “NDPITools_.jar” (https://www.imnc.in2p3.fr/pagesperso/deroulers/software/ndpitools/download/ndpitools-1.7.2/NDPITools_.jar) in the folder: Figi.app/ plugins /.

This allowed me to access the options (although they don’t work): Plugins → NDPITools → (Preview NDPI, Extract to TIFF, Custom extract to TIFF / Mosaic, Convert directory to TIFF / Mosaic, open TIFF, Save as compressed TIFF)

But I have problems in statement 3: “Download the latest binary release of the ndpisplit program for your platform (e.g. ndpisplit.exe if you work under Windows). Put it in the same place as NDPITools_.jar above, or in any directory that belongs to the PATH. "

I downloaded the file “ndpisplit” from: (https://www.imnc.in2p3.fr/pagesperso/deroulers/software/ndpitools/download/ndpitools-1.8/lin64/ndpisplit) shown on the site (https: / /www.imnc.in2p3.fr/pagesperso/deroulers/software/ndpitools/#download). To download it, I have to do it as follows: “Save link as” → “save”

After I download the file, I place it in the folder: Figi.app/plugins/

With all this, I would expect the plugin to run fine, but it doesn’t seem to recognize the “ndpisplit” file. When running Plugins → NDPITools → Preview NDPI, I get the following error:

%%%
“Error while getting version of ndpisplit.

Can’t find executable of the ndpisplit program in the following list:
(the default PATH)
/ usr / local / bin
…/Fiji.app/plugins/
…/Fiji.app/macros/
…/Fiji.app/
/ home / user
/ home / user / Desktop "
%%%

I have even tried to place the file “NDPISplit.java” (extracted from the folder “ndpitoolsplugins-1.7.1”, which is downloaded from the main website (search “source code”)), in the plugins folder. But it doesn’t work either

I have also tried to place the file “ndpisplit.c” (extracted from the folder “ndpitools-1.5-2”, which is downloaded from the main website (search “source code”)), in the plugins folder. But it doesn’t work either

I have tried to fix it in multiple ways, downloading the file in different ways, trying different browsers, placing it in different folders, but nothing seems to work
What could be the problem?
Thank you very much in advance!

Víctor

I just had the same problem (Manjaro 21.0.4). It was a permission issue on my side.
Simple fix:

sudo chmod +x ndpisplit

You’ll probably need to run this command for ndpi2tiff as well
