Scientist, High Content Screening

Roche is seeking for a scientist for High Content Screening in the section of phenotypic Drug discovery and target identification, in preclinical research.
In the High content screening group, we support drug discovery projects in the disease areas of infectious diseases, oncology, neuroscience and ophthalmology. We apply high throughput imaging combined with tailored image analysis techniques to analyze cellular phenotypes as basis for developing pharmacological relevant assays supporting the characterization of novel drug candidates.
Do assay development for High Content Screening: Cell culture and sample preparation for image based analysis
Establish image procedure and carry out imaging with our automated HCS readers
Analyze images with preexisting image analysis tools and do data analysis of the derived parameters
Implement and evaluate new techniques and equipment related to HCS
Interact with experienced programmer to support the generation of new image analysis tools
Summarize and communicate own data to project team
Be responsible for a cell culture laboratory

We are looking for a new colleague with education and work experience within the area of in vitro cell biology (e.g. biology, biochemistry, pharmacology or similar).and level of independence as Master or Ph.D with at least 4 years practical work experience in the laboratory.
Experience in handling and interpreting data sets from HCS or of comparable complexity.
Practical In vitro assay development experience, including cell culture and sample preparation in microtiter plate format.
Languages: English (written and spoken at professional level)
Good communication skills. At the level of independent presentation preparation and presentation of own data and assay development related interaction with colleagues in project team
High Content Screening, Microscopy and image analysis; complex in vitro cellular systems like 3D, stem cells, primary cells and co-culture; molecular biology; quantitative expression related techniques like Western Blot, ELISA, mRNA quantification; automation and up-scaling of assays;
RNAi technologies and interaction with external collaborators.
