Distance between two points

Hello All,

I am doing an analysis on some EM images where I need to measure the distance between two points. I am manually selecting the points, however I am unable to find a way to measure the distance between the two.

Ideally, I would select the points, save them as ROI’s, export the ROI’s so I have them for future reference, and then measure the distance between the two. In some images I would only be measuring a couple, and in others I would be measuring several, which may make it complicated for a macro.

If its relevant, I am working with fiji version: 2.0.0-rc-69/1.52p build: 269a0ad53f

Here are two sample images, one in which two points are selected.
59%20PM 42%20PM

I will be doing a lot of this, so the simpler the better.

Thanks in advance,

I did find this macro: https://imagej.nih.gov/ij/macros/MeasureCumulativeDistances.txt that allows me to find the distance between the two points, one pair at a time.

If there is anything better please let me know!

Hello Max -

Would it work to select your pairs of points by using the (straight)
Line tool to select a Line Roi for each pair of points that connects
the two points together? You can then add the Roi to the ROI
manager and run Measure. One of the default measurements
that shows up in the Results table should be the Length of the
Line Roi (and, if not, it can be added to the set of Measurements
to be made).

(You can run Measure on all of the Rois in the ROI Manager
at once; you don’t need to measure them one by one. This
can all be scripted, of course.)

Thanks, mm
