Decimating stacks query

I have a large stack of 840 images, I would like to decimate the stack… ie select one image every X (e.g. every 5th, 10th, 20th etc) so I can run a process on this reduced number. I could write out a long text list and feed it into SubStack Maker, but this is tedious, it would be good to have a “decimation” tool that can subsample the stack with a spacing factor.

did you have a look at “Image >> Stacks >> Tools >> Reduce…” ?

Also try to tool Slice Keeper in Image > Stacks > Tools

Thanks, last time I used ImageJ “in anger” was about 2008… so much great stuff has been added since then!

To add to the other correct solutions, you can also do this by entering an increment in Image > Stacks > Tools > Make Substack.
