CP2 installation on Linux:configure:error: libX11 not found

Dear members of CellProfiler forum,

We are currently installing CellProfile 2 on a linux server.

We use the following command to install the software:
make -f Makefile.CP2 PREFIX="/usr/cp2" gtk all
(cp2 is the directory that we created to host the tool)

The execution of the make command aborts with an error message “libX11 not found”:
checking for connect… yes
checking for remove… yes
checking for shmat… yes
checking for IceConnectionNumber in -lICE… yes
checking for XOpenDisplay… no
configure: error: *** libX11 not found. Check ‘config.log’ for more details.
make: *** [/usr/cp2/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.la] Error 1

On our server, the X11 library (.h files) is localized in “/usr/include/X11” folder.
What can we do to to ensure that the “make” command is going to search the libX11 (.h files) in the /usr/incude/X11 folder ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I am definitely not the biggest expert, but I’m thinking you might not have libx11-dev installed? Another possibility is that Xrender or libxext-dev are not installed: ( ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=872643 ).

Hope this helps.
