Counting of cells defined by edges

I’m new to Cell Profiler and have been trying to use it to count cells in images like the one attached. The cells in these images are defined by their edges rather than a difference in shading/coloration. Can CP identify such objects? If so, how? Thanks very much!


Here is a pipeline that should get you close to what you want. It uses the EnhanceOfSuppress module to take advantage of the fact that the cells are dark rings surrounding light holes, and then identifies these holes. Some tweaking may still be needed though.
