Computing requirements

Hi, I’m a new user trying to get the Worm Toolbox established in my lab. I’ve gone through the tutorials and am trying to build my own training module. The training images are TIFFS of a 96-well plate, stitched together from four images. Every time I try the training pipeline the computer eventually freezes and crashes. I’m running this on an iMac (a few years old) 2.8 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 4 GB 800 MHz SDRAM. It’s also crashing on my on my two-year old MAcBook Pro (2.53 GHz Intel Core i5, 8GB 1066 MHz memory). Do I just need to find acomputer with more power, or do you think I have a fundamental error in how I’ve set up the training module?

thanks in advance,

Jordan

Hi Jordan,

A few questions:

  • Can you clarify this statement?

Are you using an stitched image of the entire plate or just of each well?

  • Also, about how many images are you able to make it through in your training before it hangs/crashes?
  • Roughly how many worms are in your training set by that point.

Lastly, could you post your pipeline and a few example images you are using?
