CellProfiler crashes after 15-20 frames

Hi,

I was using CellProfiler 2.1 on Mac OS X Mountain Lion, and everything was working great. I recently updated my computer to OS X Yosemite, and now CellProfiler crashes after analyzing 15-20 frames. I have ~100 images of 2 channels 2048x2048, all stacked in one TIFF. The pipeline and images are the same as before the update. I pasted the error below. It looks like a memory issue. Increasing memory size or decreasing number of workers does not help. Running with separate files instead of one image stacks also does not help. I prefer not to resize my images. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Tineke

MemoryError

Hi Tineke,

Briefly, a few suggestions:
(1) Use Windows, as it handles memory more than 2GB (for now at least, as our next release should address this for OS X)
(2) Try our trunk build which may fix your issue http://cellprofiler.org/releases/ and has many recent fixes in place including memory handling
(3) Wait for our next release (next month or so?)

Hope that helps!
