Does the area element in the Results window represent spherical area or circular area ?

Couldn’t find any 'help on that!!

Hello,

I’m not sure of what you mean by spherical or circular area. That said, the area parameter is simply the number of pixels that form the particle (times the scale if there is one).

Hi Nicolas,

Thank you for your reply. I am analysing droplets count in sample micrographs.

I am using the 3D Edge and Symmetry filter for processing and finally getting the analysed droplets with circularity 0.5 - 1.00. I would like to calculate the diameter from the ‘Area’ in the Results table. So, I was wondering which formula I should go for (area of a sphere or a circle)

Thanks

So, you’re looking for the equivalent diameter of a droplet?

Then if the initial image is 2D, you should consider a disk, not a sphere.

But you may also be interested in other options, such as the equivalent ellipse.

Have you checked the Set Measurements options here?

Thank you for your help Nicolas. Much appreciated!!
